MILWAUKEE -- Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a Thursday night quadruple shooting that left one man dead and two children injured, police say.

According to a news release from police, officers were driving near the 3700 block of W. Wright St. at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday when they heard a "barrage of gunfire." As they drove toward the gunfire, the news release says the officers saw at least one suspect firing shots toward two children, who were later found injured.

Officers started chasing the suspect, a 27-year-old Milwaukee man, who was taken into custody several blocks away. A gun was recovered nearby, police say.

A 26-year-old man, who was also injured in the shooting, is considered a suspect and police say they will take him into custody when he is released from the hospital.

A 37-year-old Milwaukee man died on the scene, police say. The two other victims were a 14-year-old girl, who was critically injured, and a 10-year-old boy, who sustained a non-life threatening injury.

"The Milwaukee Police Department and Chief Alfonso Morales send prayers to the families of those who were impacted by this senseless act of violence. Chief Morales also thanks the officers from District 3 who responded to this incident and for quickly apprehending the suspects," the news release from police says.

Criminal charges will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
