Top 5 things to do at Summerfest's Big Gig BBQ

What could be better than a backyard BBQ with beer and live music for the holiday weekend?

Well, what about ten local and national cooks coming together to serve you some of Wisconsin’s finest BBQ to top it off?

The Big Gig BBQ is doing just that. The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4 and will be located on the south end of Henry Maier Festival Park.

Here are 5 things to do at this backyard BBQ:

1. Live music at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard and the South Pavilion: Some artists to watch are country star Chris Janson, Tucker Beathard and Ronnie Backer Brooks.

2. Cooking demonstrations by Biker Billy: Biker Billy will be entertaining the crowd with his comedic charm and present a new take on BBQ. We hear if you’re lucky there will be a free tasting too!

3. An appearance from Mad Dog & Merrill: Nationally recognized and self-proclaimed “Grillologists” will be on the grounds for a taping of their “Midwest Grill’n” TV show.

4. Meijer local Celebrity Bacon Eating Contest: Watch local celebrity contestants devour some bacon for the chance to win a $100 Meijer gift card.

5. Beer Tasting: If you purchase the VIPig Pass then you’ll have the chance to enjoy four beer tastings from Leinenkugel, Redd’s and Henry’s Hard Soda. Limited passes are available for $30. Those include admission to the Big Gig BBQ, free parking, four BBQ tastings from any cook and a keepsake laminate and lanyard.

General admission tickets are $15, while supplies last.

The Entertainment VIP package is $50 and includes one general admission, free parking, one admission to the Big Gig BBQ VIP Deck, two complimentary beers, light snacks and unlimited soda and water.

Parking for this event is $10.

Motorcycle parking is free and available on the grounds and in the Harley-Davidson lot.

The Big Gig BBQ will happen rain or shine.
