I'm amazed at the overwhelming response I've received so far in sharing about my beautiful boy, Truman.

Over the weekend, I posted this story on Facebook after a TMJ4 News viewer informed me they could see the titles of my ADHD books on the shelf behind me. So, I took the opportunity to be transparent about my personal life as a mother with an ADHD child.

I want to say thank you to all the parents who are cheering on my family. I have received many private messages from strangers about how they are going through the same thing. It's been comforting. We are sharing book, website, and podcast recommendations with each other.

We are sharing kind words of support. We are also talking about how society doesn't recognize or focus enough on the true gifts of ADHD.

Some of my son's gifts? He's a fabulous conversationalist mainly because his imagination is so incredible. He learns by movement and is becoming a very talented gymnast. The trampoline is his favorite. He's also the best helper in our house. He loves doing the dishes. I think running water is calming for him.

He is the real superhero in our lives. I tell him that every day. He loves hearing it. Likely because Spider-Man and The Hulk are his absolute favorites.

Mark my words, this child will be famous. He will be a leader. He will be a helper. He will blow us all away. Mothers have gut instincts about these sorts of things.
