Three people have been transported to the hospital after a car they were in went over a viaduct near Evergreen Lane and Layton Boulevard.
Calls came in about 9:38 a.m. for a vehicle that went down an embankment of a bridge near South Layton Boulevard, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.
Two of the passengers were able to exit the vehicle on their own, while fire crews rescued another person. All were conscious and have been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Milwaukee police.
The crash was the result of a police chase that began in the 1600 block of W. National Avenue.
Milwaukee police officers observed a stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it when it began fleeing at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed over the viaduct at Evergreen and Layton Boulevard. The male driver fled from the vehicle and was eventually taken into custody. Two female passengers were also also taken into custody.
