Multiple people were hurt after a crash on the city’s northwest side early Sunday morning involving a Jeep and a Milwaukee County Transit System bus.

Authorities say the Jeep was traveling north on Fond du Lac Avenue when it ran a red light at 35th Street and collided with the bus and several other vehicles.

  • Three people were hurt inside the bus.

"It was like a loud explosion," said Erica Siegrist, who works at the nearby KFC.

"I'd say like fireworks, that is how loud the noise was," another witness, Raymond Bader, said.

Siegrist was in the back of the KFC and thought a car had driven into the store. She ran outside and saw four vehicles involved in the crash.

  • "The car was broadside to the bus. So the Jeep was hitting the bus from a side angle," Siegrist said. "It looked really bad.”

Officials with the Milwaukee County Transit System said they were referring all questions regarding the crash to police because the investigation is ongoing.

The bus was not badly damaged in the crash and was back in service that night.
