MILWAUKEE -- About 3,000 runners from 40 states including Hawaii and Alaska, along with five foreign countries braved the gloomy day to finish in Sunday's 36th Annual Lakefront Marathon.
?
Despite the rain, David Eckhart of Park Ridge, Illinois ran about a 5:37 pace to finish the marathon in first place in under two and a half hours.
Fast behind him, was Port Washington native, Scott Allen. Allen has inched closer and closer to the best time since 2014.
?
"I went fourth, third, and now second!," said Allen, who now lives in Milwaukee.
?
There was also a heartwarming moment when a man got on his knee and asked a runner to marry him after she finished the grueling 26.2 mile race. She said yes!
