Gusty winds damaged a restaurant in Mt. Pleasant Tuesday night.
It happened at the Texas Roadhouse located near highways 31 and 11.
A block wall surrounding dumpsters behind the restaurant collapsed to the ground with customers still inside.
Some of the bricks even flew into the parking lot.
"It kind of shocked us all. It was a crazy gust of wind and that wall came tumbling down," said Dani Bowen, a manager at Texas Roadhouse. Luckily, nobody was hurt. No cars got hurt and everybody is safe that's the positive side."
Winds were gusting up to about 50 miles per hour overnight tearing down tree branches and pushing garbage cans down the street.
"It sounded like the fence was going to blow down," said Kenosha resident Jeff Pizzala.
"It was really bad. It sounded like the whole house was going to blow in or something," said Mt. Pleasant
resident Evonne Ashley.
The South Shore Fire Department said nobody was hurt at the restaurant and the Racine County Sheriff's Department said the only significant damage reported was at Texas Roadhouse.
Bowen said the block wall has been up for about 5 years and its been taking a beating in the harsh weather in
Wisconsin.
Right now, the restaurant is working on replacing it.
Despite the damage, the restaurant still remained open.
