Teens lead Menomonee Falls police officers on a high speed chase in stolen cars Monday, and three are now in custody.

The department has released the dash cam video of teenagers leading them on a high speed pursuit Monday.

Two vehicles were pursued by officers, one getting away, the other found abandoned near Mequon. The three teens ages 13, 14, 15 in the abandoned car were eventually found and taken into custody.

The video shows a Jeep SUV driving over the center divider of a busy road, then driving head on towards an oncoming car barely missing it. At other points in the chase the driver of the Plymouth sedan can be seen driving on the wrong side of the road. At one point the chase became too dangerous and officers backed off.

Captain Jeff Knop of the Menomonee Falls Police Department says several agencies were involved in pursuing the suspects. Knop says his department has seen a growing trend of teens in stolen cars.

“It seems as though the Menomonee Falls Police Department, like other area departments has seen some instances of younger juveniles engaging in the thefts of vehicles…,” Knop said. “it causes us particular concern because none of these juveniles that were involved were old enough to have a driver’s license. Perhaps any actual training in driving a vehicle.”

Officials are working with other agencies to investigate this string of incidents. Two of the teens arrested had previous warrants.
