MILWAUKEE — The longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history is impacting thousands of federal workers, along with local Wisconsin breweries.

Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin spoke out on the shutdown, saying "thanks to the government shutdown, there are thousands of brewers across our state that can't make or sell new beer."

Baldwin specifically talks about Lakefront Brewery and how it plans on releasing a new beer in February. Due to the shutdown, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau cannot approve the beer because it is closed.

"This government shutdown threatens to cut their beer sales and ability to grow their business and support the economy," Baldwin said.
