MANITOWOC — On Thursday, two suspects led Manitowoc County Sheriff's officers on a 26 mile police chase through Manitowoc and Brown County.

Brown County Sherrif's deputies were pursuing a stolen vehicle when they asked Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department for assistance.

The vehicle, which was a 2008 Ford pickup truck, was stolen from Chicago. Once the suspects reached Maple Grove, the Manitowoc Sheriff's Department took over.

The suspects turned onto a field access road, where they would eventually get stuck. The driver, a 36-year-old man, got out and ran when he realized the car was stuck.

The female passenger, however, remained in the vehicle and cooperated with police.

The pursuit lasted a total of 26 miles, with speeds reaching 80 mph in Manitowoc County. The two suspects have been taken into custody and are awaiting charges.

According to the Manitowoc County Sheriff's department, this is the third stolen vehicle pursuit in the past week. They are now urging citizens to make sure their car is locked and secured when they're not using it.
