MILWAUKEE - Eleven stages in as many days with 800 different acts playing to a crowd.

No wonder Summerfest's official emblem is a smile from ear to ear.

"Our legacy is built in Milwaukee," Summerfest representative Sarah Pancheri tells TODAY'S TMJ4. "In 1968 block parties were held here and in 1970 we settled here. It's only become what it is now because of the fans."

If 2015 was any indication, some 750,000 people will have attended the Big Gig. Attendance numbers for 2016 will be released in the coming days.

The big number to know now, Pancheri says, is 50, since next year Summerfest will celebrate its 50th edition.

"'Stay tuned' is the message," Pancheri quipped with a smile. "It's going to be a great year ahead."

To start the 50th Summerfest countdown, the first 50,000 fans who attended Sunday received a free ticket for the 2017 festival.
