MILWAUKEE — Medical school may be an expensive investment, but Wisconsin's opportunities and overall medical environment provide doctors with a sound path to success.

Wisconsin is the second-best state for doctors in the United States, scoring a 69.13, according to a WalletHub study.

WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 18 key metrics, including annual wage of physicians, hospitals per capita and overall medical environment rank.

Wisconsin is 12th best in the "opportunity & competition" rank and fourth best in the "medical environment" rank.

If you're looking to be a doctor or physician, you will make a good salary almost anywhere you go. If you choose Wisconsin, you will be provided with a good salary and high medical environment rank.
