WAUKESHA -- A 15-year-old student from Waukesha North High School was arrested Monday after a report of him having a gun at school, according to police.

The school was promptly placed on lockdown about 1:15 p.m., authorities said.

The Waukesha Police Department immediately launched an investigation thinking that the student might be inside of the school.

Additional officers responded and conducted a search of the school for the suspect, however authorities determined that he was no longer in the area.

Investigators responded to the suspect's home on Gascoigne Dr and took the 15-year-old male into custody. Officers discovered a fake firearm while searching the house, authorities said.

The news comes the same day that a student at Waukesha South High School was shot by an officer when he allegedly pointed a gun he brought to school at officers. That student was hospitalized and is in stable condition.
