Southeastern Wisconsin snowmobile trails close due to warm temperatures

WISCONSIN — The weekend brought temperatures in the 40s and 50s, causing majority of the snowmobile trails in southeastern Wisconsin to close.

Most of the trails from Manitowoc to the Illinois border have closed due to these warmer temperatures.

Some snow clubs, including Sheboygan County, made the announcement Friday, stating that the trails would close at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning. This was done likely to preserve the snow base we have so that if and when we get more snow, the trails can reopen for riders.

Trails further north remain open, and their conditions are good according to the Travel Wisconsin snowmobile trail map.

Portions of Wisconsin, including Sheboygan County and Fond Du Lac, could see 6 inches of snow on Tuesday, so there's potential the trails will reopen by the weekend.
