The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office issued citations to 16 individuals during an operation to combat drinking and disorderliness at Milwaukee County parks.

All 16 people were issued citations for public intoxication, a citation that carries a maximum forfeiture of $484.

"We are not going to permit the actions of a few to interfere with everyone's ability to enjoy our parks," said Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas. "Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies, along with the Parks Department, will continue to enforce laws and ordinances throughout Milwaukee County parks to ensure that our parks are safe and free from drunkenness and disorderliness."

The operation took place at Kosciuszko Park.

Last week, the sheriff's department conducted the same operation at Bradford Beach when they issued a total of 20 citations. Those citations were issued for the possession or consumption of alcohol by individuals over 18, but under 21-years-old. This citation carries a forfeiture of $263.50.

All this is in hopes that people adhere to the laws and ordinances enforced by the Milwaukee County Parks.
