PREVIOUS STORY:

The Brown County Sheriff's Office has issued a statewide Silver Alert for a missing 85-year-old man in Allouez.

Police say James Wanek had been missing and located by a deputy earlier Thursday. James told the deputy he had gone to his cottage and got lost on the way home and didn't know where he was.

James' son met them at the location. James was following his son back to his home in a vehicle when another vehicle got in between them. James never made it back home.

James' children have noticed that he is starting to become forgetful and confused. Authorities believe Wanek has dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Wanek was last seen on Allouez Avenue/Libal Street in the Village of Allouez. He was wearing a black hooded winter jacket, possibly dark gray dress slacks, black tennis shoes, and a wedding ring. Wanek is driving a 2008 Silver Chevy Impala with the Wisconsin license plate 864CBH. The vehicle has a "Gustman" license plate holder.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office at (920) 448-4200.
