The Sheboygan Police Department responded to an accident involving a bus and a two-year-old child around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the school bus driver had just dropped off students in the parking lot of the Sunnyside Townhouses.

The two-year-old ran toward the bus as it was pulling away.  Police say the driver was not able to see the child and the bus struck him. The driver stopped when he was alerted by witnesses.

The child was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police say their initial investigation has not shown any evidence of driver negligence. Their investigation is ongoing.
