Two apparent coyote attacks in the past ten days leave two dogs dead just north of Milwaukee.

Police say the most recent attack happened Friday night in Whitefish Bay. Police were told the dog was in a yard and was not being watched at the time. An officer tells TODAY’S TMJ4 a man reported he saw two coyotes take off with his small dog around 8 p.m. that night. The owner says he chased after them until they dropped the dog. Sadly, it died from the injuries.

A similar incident happened three miles away last Thursday on Bittersweet Lane in Glendale.

“It was just any other morning,” said Janice Bushe. “It’s our routine we put her out on her leash.”
Bushe says her dog was attacked while on a leash in the backyard.

"Our youngest two of four were home and they came into the yard and Maisy, our dog, was gone."

Bushe says her husband found their 8-year-old cockapoo dead not far away.

"It was just such a shock, such a gruesome shock," said Bushe
While both families grieve, Bushe warns to be on the lookout as they focus on the happiness Maisy brought to their lives.

"Oh you want to say protect, protect, protect, but just love every minute with your pet," she said.

A Whitefish Bay officer says this is the first reported coyote attack to take a dog’ life within in city limits.
