SHOREWOOD – The Village of Shorewood has hired a security guard to monitor Atwater Beachfollowing the recent drowning of a 14-year-old boy in mid-July.
The security personnel will be at the beach during peak beach hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Labor Day.
According to the Village of Shorewood newsletter, the guard will wear a shirt with "Security" on the back and otherwise be in civilian attire appropriate to the location.
No lifeguards will be on duty this season and swimming at any hour will continue to be at the patrons own risk.
