School resource officer identified in Oshkosh shooting incident

The school resource officer who was injured Tuesday at Oshkosh West High School has been identified as Officer Michael Wissink.

Officer Wissink was approached by a student who was armed with a sharp object and reportedly stabbed. The student was also injured in what is being called an officer-involved shooting. Both people were transported to local hospitals.

No other students, staff or citizens were injured in the incident.

Officer Wissink has been serving the Oshkosh Police Department for 21 years and has been a school resource officer since 2017.

Further investigation into the incident is being conducted. No additional details are available at this time.
