MILWAUKEE -- Introducing local girls to future careers in engineering was the goal of a recent event at a Milwaukee high school.
Saint Joan Antida welcomed more than 200 middle school students for its 10th annual Girls in Engineering fair on Tuesday.
"I think going to these kind of things, events, you see you know what no one is better than me. I'm not better than anyone else. We can all do it and that we can create something amazing," junior Carmen Medina Santana said.
As part of the event, girls used household items to design and build their own catapults and then put them to the test.
"It's more about showing girls that they can do anything and it's actually having them broaden their horizons," junior Sarah Kopacz said.
The fair also featured resource for girls to learn about up-coming opportunities in our community.
