RUBICON — Road conditions, blowing snow and wind were all factors in a fatal car crash that took place in Dodge County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office (DCSO).

The DCSO responded to a report of a two vehicle crash with injuries on STH 60 near Jefferson Road in the Township of Rubicon just before 1 p.m. on December 12. The state highway was closed for approximately 2 hours due to the investigation and complete road blockage.

The investigation showed that a small SUV, driven by a 40-year-old Neosho man, was traveling eastbound when he lost control and entered the westbound lane. The SUV was struck broadside by a westbound vehicle driven by a 50-year-old Horicon man and occupied by his 11-year-old son.

The Neosho man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Horicon man and his son were treated and released from the hospital.

The crash and death are under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office. The DCSO was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, DCERT, Dodge County Sheriff Chaplain, Hartford EMS, Neosho Fire and First Responders.
