Though Veterans Day has come and gone, the owners of Pitch's Lounge & Restaurant are giving a free meal to 50 veterans. Pitch's owners say it's the least they can do.
The Chapter One Vietnam Veterans of Wisconsin are longtime patrons of Pitch's. Chapter Treasure, Chris White, says the 50 men eating lunch don't consider this a handout or just a free meal.
"When you say it's a free meal, it's a token of their appreciation," said White.
White argues those who celebrate veterans on more than just Veterans Day, are people who truly care. John Pitch, one of the Pitch sons and partial owner of Pitch's Lounge & Resturant, agrees with White.
"It's a continuation of the veterans holidays. But we're grateful to them all the time," said Pitch.
Pitch says through the years the family has been successful with their businesses Miss Katie's Diner and Pitch's.
He says it was only right to show the family's appreciation to the veterans, some of who have been supporting them for years, and for their sacrifice. Pitch adds this is the first veteran luncheon, and there's a good chance it will become an annual event.
