Breast Cancer Awareness Month is every October, and this time around the American Red Cross is offering an incentive to eligible donors to donate blood or platelets to help patients fighting cancer.
Eligible donors who donate between Oct. 15 through Nov. 11 will receive a $5 Amazon gift card via email, courtesy of Suburban Propane.
According to the Red Cross, patients fighting cancer need more blood than patients with any other disease.
“As a cancer patient, I had to have blood transfusions several times when the chemotherapy treatments have destroyed my immune system,” said breast cancer survivor Diane Doehrman. “I am so very thankful for the donations from others. It can truly save a life.”
Donors are asked to make appointments by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767.
