Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies observed a reckless driver traveling eastbound on the 5500 block of West Hampton Ave. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at approximately 12:38 p.m.

Deputies say a Hyundai Tucson without registered plates was weaving through traffic at about 80 mph in a 35 mph zone.

The deputies caught up to the car and saw the driver waving a semi-automatic handgun. They proceeded to turn on their emergency lights and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The driver slowed his speed but continued to drive until reaching the 6000 block of W. Mill Rd. However, as deputies exited their squad to approach the suspect, the driver fled the scene.

A vehicle pursuit began until the driver exited his vehicle and tried to flee the scene on foot.

Deputies pursued the man to an unknown residence on the 6100 block of N. Port. A perimeter was put up, and MCSO's SWAT team was notified that the subject was barricaded in the residence.

The SWAT team negotiated with one of the occupants inside the residence, and eventually, seven individuals exited and were briefly detained.

One of the individuals was identified as the reckless driver by one of the Sheriff's deputies, and he was arrested.

A search warrant was obtained and executed; a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and an extended magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition were recovered by officials.

The subject, identified as Izell Harris, was arrested on charges of Fleeing/Eluding, Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
