It looks like Spring has finally arrived but last week’s snow is having an impact on some local farmers.

After 75 years of farming fruits and vegetables in southeastern Wisconsin, folks at Witte Farms say they are ready for whatever mother nature may bring their way but they do appreciate the warmer weather.

“It’s time to have 60 degree weather,” said Scott Witte of Witte Farms.

This week Scott plans to plant onions, carrots, tomatoes and beets.  Last week’s snowfall does not look to be a problem for planting.

“You got a lot of good moisture build up in the ground so you don’t have to worry about it being to dry,” said Witte.

Over the next few weeks, Witte’s main concern will be the threat of freezing temperatures but he still hopes to start selling his produce sometime in the beginning of May.
