Racine man, passenger walk away from rollover crash in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT — A Racine man and his passenger were able to walk away from a Sunday crash at 1:50 a.m. in which the vehicle reportedly was traveling about 100 mph and rolled over six times, Mount Pleasant Police said.

Tonny E. Griffin, 30, was driving a white 2017 Dodge Challenger near State Highway 20 and County Highway V when he reportedly lost control and entered the ditch about 1,200 feet to the east of the intersection of County Highway V, according to police.

The vehicle knocked down multiple signs and a light pole before it stopped near the intersection, police said in a news release.

Griffin and his 25-year-old passenger were transported to Ascension All Saints Hospital for treatment. Their injuries were not considered serious, police said.

Griffin was arrested for OWI first offense causing injury and reckless endangering safety second degree. He was released from the hospital and transported to the Racine County Jail.
