Racine man arrested for OWI after hitting Mt. Pleasant police unmarked squad car

A 58-year-old Racine man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after crashing his pick-up truck into an unmarked Mount Pleasant police squad car Saturday morning.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Durand Avenue and Taylor Avenue.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department says the unmarked squad car was traveling east through a flashing a yellow traffic light on Durand Avenue when the man's pick-up truck, traveling north on Taylor Avenue failed to stop at a flashing red light and struck the unmarked squad car.

The Racine Police Department was called to assist and arrested the Racine man for operating while intoxicated. 

Police say there were no injuries as a result of the accident.
