A Racine restaurant delivery driver was shot and killed Friday night.

Racine Police officers were called to the 3900 block of Green Street at about 11:30 p.m. after receiving multiple calls of shots fired.

They discovered 37-year-old James Norris suffering from a gunshot wound. Norris later died at a local hospital.

Police say he was making a delivery for the Steak and Lemonade restaurant when he was shot.

Neighbors like Jameela Howard visited the crime scene after hearing what happened.

"Even though we didn't know him, he passed over here,” Howard said. “We wanted to show our respect."

Howard's mother, Senequa, says she bolted out of bed when she heard the unmistakable sound of four or five gunshots.

"I'm a mother. And he's probably somebody's father. This is somebody who worked for a living. This is not a nobody. He was somebody because he knew what it was like to work," Senequa Howard said.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Last month, Racine Police said crooks were luring delivery drivers to homes where the owners were gone for the night, then robbing them at gun point.
