BURLINGTON -- Monday morning around 7:30 a.m., another Racine County Sheriff squad car was hit while assisting a motorist in a ditch.
Deputy Troy Ruffalo was seated in his squad car with his K-9 partner Nitro when the car was struck in the rear by a vehicle traveling Eastbound on State Highway 20.
Luckily, Deputy Ruffalo was treated and released at Wheaton Franciscan with minor injuries. Nitro was also uninjured.
According to a Facebook post, this marks the third squad car to be hit in a month. Each squad car was either conducting a traffic stop, assisting a motorist or investigating an accident.
The Racine County Sheriffs Office asks the public to move over, slow down and pay attention to keep this from happening.
