A Menomonee Falls man was reunited with his dog after a health scare.

Charles Pankin Jr. first got worried about his German Shepherd named Bob when they were playing fetch in the backyard.

Bob started heaving, but could not throw up. When he got bloated, Charles took him to the vet to learn he had a twisted intestine.

This would cost thousands of dollars to fix, which Charles could not afford. The vet reached out to a local rescue that was willing to help.

Woof Gang Rescue in Racine says they could not pass this German Shepherd up.

"This dog didn't just touch the life of his dad, but many others, and continues to give love two others in nursing homes that so desperately need that companionship," a spokesperson for Woof Gang Rescue said.

Charles feared he would never see the dog again. After the surgery, the rescue made sure Bob went home to Charles and was not adopted by another family.
