TOWN OF SALEM -- A public safety officer from the Town of Salem died after his car went into a ditch.
The wreck happened at 6 p.m. on WIS 50 west at County B in Kenosha County near Silver Lake.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriffs Office, Officer Michael Ventura, 33, was driving with his emergency lights activated when he left the roadway.
Ventura was ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital via helicopter. He later died from his injuries.
The events leading up to the crash are unknown at this time.
