U.S. President Donald Trump is tweeting his support for Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, after he engaged in a heated argument with Chuck Todd on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, regarding the whistleblower complaint into Trump's call with Ukraine.

Chuck Todd pressed the senator about a comment featured in the Wall Street Journal about frozen military aid being connected to a promise for investigations from Ukraine.

"At that suggestion, I winced. My reaction was: Oh, God. I don't want to see those two things combined," Johnson told the Wall Street Journal.

The senator replied, claiming that the media has portrayed a false narrative about the president, referencing the allegations of Russian collusion with Trump's campaign during the 2016 election.

"When I asked the president about it, he adimently denied it," Johnson said during the interview.

The Wisconsin senator serves as chair for the Governmental Affairs and Homeland Security committees.
