MILWAUKEE -- President Barack Obama will visit Milwaukee on March 3rd to highlight the city's success in enrolling people for coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

“I am thrilled to be welcoming President Obama to Milwaukee next week to celebrate our success in the Healthy Communities Challenge," Mayor Tom Barrett said in a statement. “Our victory not only shows the success that a collaborative effort can produce, but highlights a much more important message: Today, more Milwaukee-area residents have health insurance coverage than ever before."

City officials had announced earlier this month that President Obama would be visiting, but the date wasn't set at that time. We don't know yet where the president will visit within the city.

Around 38,000 people in the Milwaukee area selected a 2016 plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace during the open enrollment period, making a total of 89,000 people signed up for the program.
