It's official - Jefferson will be the new home of the popular annual Harry Potter Festival. The Jefferson City Council unanimously approved the proposal Thursday.

The festival just got too popular for Edgerton, the tiny town in which it was held the last two years.

In 2015, 5,000 Muggles showed up in Edgerton for the festivities. Last fall, more than 40,000 attended.

"It's a neat opportunity for a variety of businesses to get involved," said Jefferson Mayor Dale Oppermann. "Someone mentioned that everything from the gas stations to the bakery and all the businesses downtown, and that's kind of special and unique today."

Business owners say Jefferson is the perfect location - not too far away from Milwaukee, Janesville, or Madison.
