MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department has asked for the public's help in identifying a sexual assault suspect.

The assault happened Saturday night in the 1700 block of W. State St., near Marquette University, and many students living in the area say they're concerned.

"It doesn't make me feel good at all that the suspect is still out there," Mary DeYoung said.

DeYoung is a senior at the university and lives in the area where police say the incident occurred.  According to DeYoung, her and her roommates plan to be extra cautious moving forward.

"I carry pepper spray, especially when I go home from my night classes,"  Anna Wiesemann said. "Recently my [roommates and I] took a self-defense class."

MPD isn't saying much about the assault, but the department did provide surveillance video of the suspect. According to police, the suspect is a black male in his 20s, 5'7" - 5'9", and was last seen wearing a dark coat and a beanie with a light colored brim.

The victim of the incident is a woman not affiliated with Marquette University. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspect or the crime to call the Milwaukee Police Department, Sensitive Crimes Division at 414-935-7405.
