A man arrested for abducting a woman on Milwaukee's east side has been released from police custody after investigations ruled the incident "baseless in nature."

The alleged abduction happened in the early hours of Saturday morning outside a business in the 1600 block of E. North Avenue.

Police said that a woman ran into the business asking employees to call 911. She later ran out and was "bear-hugged" by the man and put in his vehicle. The man was located later Saturday afternoon, while the woman was safely located Saturday night.

Based on additional surveillance video, witness accounts and cooperation with police from both parties, the man has been released, according to Milwaukee police.
