Police need your help to find the driver of a car involved in a violent road rage incident near Bayshore Mall. The suspect shot out of a moving vehicle at another driver because he did not let him merge.
The busy intersection of Silver Spring Drive and Port Washington Road by Bayshore Mall can be difficult to get across most days.
"There's so many cars and I don't know if there is enough traffic lights," said Angela Kopka, who drives the area regularly.
Glendale police said a driver trying to pull out of the BP Gas Station into the turn lane lost his cool last Tuesday, July 18. According to officers, he was driving a Hyundai Elantra when he tried to merge across the lanes into a turn lane. Another driver, who was already in the lane, moved in front of the Hyundai, rather than letting him merge. Police said that was enough to make the Hyundai driver go off. First, yelling at the car.
Then, police said the Hyundai driver pulled ahead of the other vehicle. He opened his car door, leaned out with a gun and fired four or five shots.
The victim was not hit but the car was. The man behind the wheel drove himself to the police station to report what happened. People who drive the area every day say they are not surprised.
"People here is crazy man. I've seen a lot of things," said Tevodis Carr, who was walking across the intersection.Tevodis Carr, who was walking across the intersection.
The people in the area wish all drivers would have more patience before they let their anger take over.
"I wish they would kind of cool down and think about it. They have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, they don't want that happening to them," said Earnest Chapman, who was walking nearby.
Police said the driver was just lucky no one else on the busy street was hit by the bullets.
The passenger in the Hyundai, a woman, turned herself into police.
