Police remind Wisconsin residents of weed laws as Illinois nears legalization

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. — Recreational marijuana sales start Jan. 1 in Illinois, and the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department reminds residents that Wisconsin state laws have not changed.

The sheriff's department understands that residents can travel to Illinois next month and consume recreational marijuana, but the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department will continue enforcing state laws and local ordinances in regards to marijuana.
