RACINE — The Racine County Sheriff's Office is searching for a Burlington man who led police on a pursuit and crashed into a home.

According to police, Mose C. Cox, 31, led a Racine deputy on a police pursuit Monday after he ran a stop sign near Lathrop Ave and 15th St. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but after speeds reached a dangerous level, the deputy terminated the pursuit. According to a criminal complaint, speeds reached 45 mph in a 25 mph zone.

The deputy pulled over his vehicle and deactivated all his emergency equipment. A short time later, Racine County received a call for a vehicle that crashed into a home in the 1400 block of Flett Ave. This home was less than a mile from where the deputy terminated the pursuit.

Deputies responded to the home and determined the vehicle, a gray Ford Escape, was the same as the one involved in the pursuit. The Ford Escape struck a tree in the front yard of the home and crashed into the front porch causing the vehicle to roll on its side. The resident was not injured.

Police found a loaded semi-automatic handgun and a cup of alcohol however Cox was gone.

Cox is now wanted for several charges including fleeing and eluding.
