WAUKESHA -- Police need your help finding a standoff suspect who slipped out of a home and onto a Waukesha Metro Transit bus.

24-year-old Nasar A. Gregory is wanted on a temporary felony warrant for domestic battery, strangulation, child abuse, and intimidation of a victim, police say.

Officers were called to a home in the 1000 block of Caroline St. in Waukesha Friday morning for a report of a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived, a woman and three children ran out of the home. Officers were able to offer them "a safe haven," police said.

"It was just, cops came out of nowhere," said Junior Ortiz, who watched the standoff situation from his home down the block.

"There were all kinds of cops here," said neighbor Pablo Cruz. "There were all bunched up on that part of the street. That's all I could see."

When police attempted to negotiate with Gregory, officers discovered he had escaped.

"I know the guy, but not (well)," Ortiz said. "But I've seen him around and stuff."

A short time later, officers received a tip from Waukesha Metro Transit that a rider reported the suspect transferring from one bus to another with an unknown destination.

Gregory "made statements that he was not going to go back to jail," police said.

If you see Gregory, do not approach. Dial 911 immediately.
