MILWAUKEE — UPDATE: Milwaukee police say the suspect accused of stabbing an MCTS driver is in custody. The suspect was identified on Friday, May 17 and the district attorney's office will review the case today.

A Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver reportedly was stabbed about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of West Appleton Avenue, the Milwaukee Police Department said in a news release.

The suspect is described as an African American female, 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 5 inches, with a slim build, in her early 30s. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants and a white head scarf.

The suspect reportedly refused to pay the bus fare. When confronted by the driver that she had to pay the fare, the suspect allegedly became verbally and physically abusive to the driver.
