MILWAUKEE — A two-year-old boy is back with his family after he was abducted during a carjacking on Milwaukee’s north side Tuesday night.

Police said they were called to the area by Spencer Place and Armitage Ave. just after 7:00 p.m. for a 28-year-old man shot during a carjacking.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said the carjacker drove off with a two-year-old boy in the backseat. He was found unharmed and is back with his family.

Sincere was visiting his mom on Spencer Place when he heard a strange noise. He said it didn’t sound like a gunshot.

“It sounded like a firecracker,” he said.

One street over on Leon Terrace, Billie Martin looked out her window.

“I just seen a lot of squad cars and I was wondering why,” she said. “I’m sitting right here in my living room and I didn’t hear nothing.”

She could relate to the family, she said someone broke into her car a couple of months ago.

“They got in my car, but they didn’t take anything,” she said.

Now she plans to be even more cautious when she’s out in the neighborhood.

“I’m glad they got the two-year-old back and everything’s okay, but I have to be, really be careful of my surroundings,” she said.

The same goes for Sincere. He’s worried about his mom and hopes that this doesn’t happen out here again.

“People just need to stay in their own lane basically, you know what I’m saying, get out here and work for what you need instead of trying to rob people,” he said.

Police are still searching for the suspect and the car they stole. It’s described as a black 2017 Nissan Sentra with four doors and a Wisconsin license plate with the number 737-YBP.
