MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that seriously injured a 35-year old man on Monday morning.

According to MPD, the man was driving his car when he was shot by someone in a passing vehicle.

The victim’s car crashed into a building at 21st and Fond du Lac Avenue, and he was taken to a local hospital.

Those passing by the crash scene said they were startled at how badly damaged the victim’s car was.

“I thought, ‘golly, that’s a really bad accident,’” said Doris Glover, of Milwaukee.

She said she was frustrated that such a shooting puts the public in danger.

“It’s very upsetting. They obviously didn’t consider the lives of other people,” Glover said.

Odell Chalmers, who works across the street from where the crash ended, said he’s saddened by the shooting but has come to expect crime like that in the area.

“It was quite a violent incident, that’s what I heard,” he said. “It’s frustrating because there are a lot of good people in this neighborhood. There are people here who have goals, but all we ever see is scenes like this.”

Police said they’re still investigating a motive for the shooting and looking for suspects.

Police do not have a description of the shooter’s vehicle yet.
