The Madison Police Department responded to a report of a man driving his vehicle up the exterior stairs of the Wisconsin State Capitol building Sunday, Jan. 17, around 12:11 a.m.
Witnesses report that after 44-year-old Willie Burks had driven up the Capitol building stairs, he drove the wrong way in traffic and eventually parked his car.
Officers concluded that Burk was intoxicated at the time and conveyed him to the Dane County jail.
Burk faces the following charges: Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated 3rd offense, reckless driving, operating while suspended, driving against traffic and driving on a sidewalk.
