A popular park in the village of Pewaukee is hit with a string of vandalism that ends with a fire.

Two teens arrested, but it's left equipment damaged for sports and day camp with Pewaukee Parks and Recreation.

Children and parents are still playing at the Kiwanis Village Park, but the building is not in use.

"This has been kind of a rough week, I'm not really sure what's going on," said Kelley Woldanski, the director for Pewaukee Parks and Recreation.

The park saw a string of vandalism this week. Some minor like trash and broken equipment. However, there was a fire in the middle of the afternoon Tuesday.

"Two people set one of the toilet dispensers on fire. As far as I can tell basically what we have is a lot of smoke damage," Woldanski said.

Police say they arrested two teenaged girls for the arson but not for the other acts of vandalism.

"I honestly believe it might be separate people," Woldanski said.

The damage from the fire was extensive. It left the bathrooms unusable and the smoke also damaged equipment in storage for some sports teams and the day camp.

"It's disappointing to say the least," said Ted Zehelein who was playing basketball in the park with his daughter.

"Any type of vandalism is just not right," said Karen Angellotti who was walking her dog in the park.

To make matters worse it happened in the middle of the day when many families use the park.

"A lot of young kids. They actually just had their Easter egg hunt here, every year they have that. It gets well used," Angellotti said.

"We care so much about this park and so does the community. So it's really hard to watch some of the vandalism happen," Woldanski said.

The Parks and Recreation Department still does not know how much has been destroyed.
Temporary bathrooms are being put in for the baseball season and they expect everything should be fixed in time for day camps.
