SHEBOYGAN -- A 20-year-old man was arrested after running through alley's with a clown mask on.
Police were called at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to 3rd Street and Erie Avenue.
Officers were able to catch up with the potential suspect and discovered he had a clown mask in his possession.
After a quick search, the man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and taken to the Sheboygan County Detention Center.
Authorities said they've been taking calls over the last few days regarding suspicious activity involving people dressed as clowns.
The creepy clown trend has been an alarming national phenomenon over recent weeks. Local police departments including Milwaukee, Oak Creek, South Milwaukee and West Bend have either received reports of clown threats over social media or copycat clown sightings.
Sheboygan police said that while walking around in a creepy costume is not illegal, "trespassing on property, knocking on residents' windows & doors, chasing citizens down the roadway and sending threatening messages on social media is and can lead to a citation or an arrest."
