The footprint of Wisconsin supermarket chain Pick ’n Save will continue to shrink with another pair of store closures slated for this summer, TODAY'S TMJ4's partner, The Milwaukee Business Journal is reporting.

Two more Pick ’n Save stores in southeast Wisconsin will shut down by the end of this month, according to statements from the company to The Milwaukee Business Journal.

The Kenosha Uptown Brass Pick ’n Save, 1901 63rd St., and the Sheboygan South Pick ’n Save, 2625 S. Business Drive, will both cease operations no later than June 30. Employees at the two locations were informed of the closures on June 2 and all impacted associates will be given the opportunity to work at another Pick ’n Save store.
Roundy's said the long-term financial performances of both stores were evaluated, but the locations didn't bring about the results needed to meet the firm's business goals.

Over the past month, news has trickled out that the company plans to shut down several of its Pick ’n Save stores this summer, including its West Silver Spring Drive location and stores in New Berlin and Pewaukee. According to a report from The Shawano Leader, the Pick ’n Save in Shawano will also close later this month. Like with the Sheboygan and Kenosha supermarkets, Roundy's also said those stores did not meet the company's long-term fiscal objectives.

Milwaukee's ultra-competitive grocery market has grown more fierce over the past few years with new players opening stores and existing supermarkets ramping up their presence. Grocery retail square footage has increased significantly, and industry observers have agreed that the greater Milwaukee-area market is over-stored when it comes to this segment.
The closures also come a year-and-half after Pick ’n Save parent Roundy's, which was struggling financially, was acquired by Cincinnati grocery chain Kroger. Since then, the retail giant has rolled out a series of changes at its new Wisconsin supermarkets, including an expanded product selection and store renovations.
