House Speaker Paul Ryan met with emergency crews in Burlington Thursday after heavy rains caused severe flooding in portions of his district.
Ryan said emergency managers are assessing the damage, collecting data to determine if the disaster qualifies for federal aid.
“It will take a while to figure out just what kind of damage we're talking about here. I was here in the 2007 flood. This is so much more devastating than the 2007 flood,” the speaker said.
