CEDARBURG, Wis. -- A Paralympian and cancer survivor shares the joy he has for coaching his daughter in a sport they both love.

Patrick McDonald was part of USA's Paralympic curling team from 2010-2014.

He is sidelined for the next Paralympics, after battling cancer over the past year.

McDonald threw himself back into the sport as assistant coach in his daughter's curling team. They were one of more than a dozen teams from across the country to compete in Cedarburg this past week.

"I get to live through them and sometimes being on this side of the glass is more stressful than being on the other side of the glass," said Patrick McDonald, Paralympic Curler who lives in Madison.

"He definitely helps me. It's like a coaching and a dad position," explained Andrea McDonald, 14-year-old curler.

The top team who won will advance to an international competition to represent the United States in Canada.
